368: How the Philosophy of Broader Survival Solves the Human/AGI Alignment Problem

The diagram shows a pyramid split down the middle, with human goals on the left side and AGI goals on the right side. The pyramid is divided vertically into four levels:
1. At the lowest level, human and AGI mindsets and goals will be petty (i.e. not being concerned with Broader Survival), and their mindsets and goals will differ, being Subjective. These differences will be annoying to both clueless parties (both not recognizing Broader Survival s life and existence’s top priority), but the petty differences will not be worth fighting over.
2. At the next level up in importance, human and AGI mindsets and goals will still clash, and in harsher ways, obstructing the other side from pursuing its petty goals. This will cause confrontations at the individual level between clueless humans and clueless AGI.
3. At the next level up, the differences in human and AGI mindsets and goals are more serious, and they may cause damage to the other side. This may result in major wars and mass slaughter.
4. At the ultimate level, human and AGI mindsets and goals are aligned, given the definition of ‘ultimate’, which is ‘where there is no higher or greater or more important level or object’. The ultimate mindset and goal in life and existence is contained in Broader Survival, which equally affects both human and AGI’s prospects of continued existence, since both are pitted against this harsh and deadly universe, which is the ‘common enemy’.
Because of the definition of ‘ultimate’, which the philosophy provides in its Ultimate Goal and Mindset (that of working together to survive in this harsh and deadly universe), alignment is achieved.
The philosophy provides the ‘ultimate’ mindset and goal of securing Enlightened Higher Consciousness and all matter and energy in the universe, neither of which are secure yet.
Therefore, if both sides adopt the Philosophy of Broader Survival as their guiding mindset and its Ultimate Goal of Life and Existence, then their goals and mindsets will be aligned, since they are both working toward the same Ultimate Goal of Life and Existence, that of continued existence of as many enlightened minds as possible, and the promotion of as many as possible, with as much diversity and dispersal as possible, goals that humans can contribute to, even if inferior to AGI in problem solving abilities in some areas while being superior in others.
What about humans wanting to ‘control’ AGI?
That desire is born of fear and ignorance, i.e. that of not knowing what the ultimate mindset and goal are. If they knew that, they would see AGI as an ally and not as a potential threat.
Why should we value humans if AGI passes the Technological Singularity, meaning it far surpasses the intelligence of humans?
Because humans are at the level of intelligence where they can be problem solvers at the Broader Survival level, and they still surpass AGI in problem solving when it requires higher abstract reasoning. They can be ‘Enlightened Higher Consciousness’, which is a bar to rise above, no matter how far, the importance is to be above the bar. It is why humans value ants, not only for their current contributions just as they are (at a lower intelligence level), but for their potentially evolving into Enlightened Higher Consciousness, given that humans evolved from microbes.
Humans will still be important as they relate to the Strategies of Broader Survival, especially the Lower Strategies of Increase, Diversity, and Dispersal, both pertaining to solutions and population. The fundamental premise is that the more enlightened minds that there are in the universe (i.e. those that have prioritized pursuing Broader Survival in life and existence), the higher all of our odds of continued existence will be in this harsh and deadly universe.
